How To Prioritize

New Leader Series Pt. 4

It is challenging as a new leader to keep all of your priorities in line.

There are so many demands coming at you all of the time. Your boss needs something from you, your team needs you and your peers need you, all at the same time.

It is tough to juggle all of those things even on a good day! Here's my tip for you: When you prioritize the needs of your team, the people that report directly to you, you will make them feel supported, they will feel that you care about them and their needs. What happens when your team feels that way, is that they will go the extra mile for you!

They will work their butts off to make sure that you get everything you need to be done, done. A team that is treated well will go the extra mile for their leader.

A team that is at the bottom of the list of priorities will feel ignored, not supported, not important enough, and they won't go the extra mile.

Your team will make you look like a rock star if you put them at the top of your list. You cannot do this alone, so make sure you make your team a priority and by doing so you will be able to get everything else completed.
